Bedřiška is one of the corners where the rotting claws of authoritarian neoliberalism hit the wall. A truly unique (post)coal-miners' settlement in the heart of Ostrava, Czechia.

Bedřiška is a grandma, hugging caringly, demanding that we care, too.

For 15 years, her remaining tens of settlers face a full eviction¹; crippling racial discrimination²; and the destruction of both housing and community.

With each family torn out by a bulldozer – continuing as you read – we lose an island of free spirit and an exemplary case of resistance against the roots (radix-, radic- -> radical) of oppression.

Bedřiška represents a community of togetherness where help is not a commodity, but an act of love.

A symbol of civic initiative against nature and land destruction.

AVE, a company owned by fossil hyena¹ Daniel Křetínský, aims to expand its waste dump² in the city of Čáslav, the dominant sight of the city—a hill of garbage.

But the locals with the organizing power of Re-set³ and Limity Jsme My⁴ have their hands in stopping this toxic nonsense.

"A VEN!" translates into "and gone!" and serves as a slogan of local resistance and global phase-out of Czech fossil oligarchy.

Limity Jsme My, a Czech climate justice movement, had been SLAPPed¹. Six years after non-violent direct action in an opencast lignite mine Bílina, 83 activists were sued for alleged damages².

This was where we heard the call, produced around 20 bumbags, and helped collect around 500 EUR for the cause at solidarity parties in Wien, München, and Prague.

Almost 40.000 EUR fine was paid off to the last cent³. "Hope sucks", but hope won this time.
